Constitution of the British Pakistani Emergency Physicians Association (BIPEPA)

Article 1: Name
The name of the association shall be the British & Irish Pakistani Emergency Physicians Association (BIPEPA).

Article 2: Aims and Objectives
The objectives of BIPEPA are
a) To promote the interests of British and Irish Physicians of Pakistani descent practicing Emergency Medicine.
b) To foster mentorship for residents of Pakistani origin.
c) To conduct regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Events, seminars, and lectures which will carry CPD hours for appraisals and revalidation.
d) To create a network for Emergency Physicians of Pakistani origin.
e) To promote education, research and excellence in Emergency Medicine.
f) To support health initiatives benefitting communities in UK, Republic of Ireland, and Pakistan.
g) To conduct at least one CPD event and one scientific conference in a year.

Article 3: Membership
a) Eligibility: Membership shall be open to all Physicians of Pakistani descent practicing or in training in Emergency Medicine in the UK or the Republic of Ireland.
b) Types of membership:
● Lifetime membership £250
● Full membership £25 per year
● Associate membership (For Students, Physician Associates (PAs), Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), & Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs))
● Honorary membership (Awarded to distinguished contributors, as determined by the Executive Committee)
c) Rights and responsibilities: All members are expected to uphold the Association’s values. Only Full Members and Lifetime Members in good standing (i.e., with paid dues) shall have the right to vote and hold office.

Article 4: Executive committee
a) The Association shall be governed by an executive committee consisting of:
I. President
II. Vice President (up to three in total)
III. General Secretary
IV. Finance Secretary (Treasurer)
V. Social Secretary
VI. Educational and Research Lead
VII. Regional Leads for regional chapters

b) Elections for the Executive Committee shall be held every two years. Only Full Members and Lifetime Members in good standing are eligible to vote and stand for election.

Article 5: Meetings
a) The Association shall hold at least one Annual General Meeting (AGM) in a year.
b) The Association shall arrange CPD and scientific meetings at least once in a year in addition to seminars for trainees and
members.
c) Special General Meeting (SGM) can be called by the President or upon a written request from 20% of voting the total
membership.

Article 6: Finances
a) The Association shall be funded through membership dues, donations and grants.
b) The Finance Secretary (Treasurer) shall maintain accurate financial records and present an annual financial report at the
AGM.

Article 7: Amendments
Amendments to this constitution may be proposed by any voting member.
Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to the General Secretary and shall be approved by a two-thirds majority of voting members present at an AGM or SGM.

Article 8: Dissolution
In the event of dissolution, any remaining assets shall be donated to a charitable organisation with similar objectives, as determined by the outgoing Executive Committee. The default beneficiary shall be a registered health charity operating in Pakistan, approved by the majority of the Executive Committee at the time of dissolution.
